Kenyon & Kenyon LLP is saddened by the passing of our esteemed friend and partner Richard L. Mayer (1934 - 2010).
Having joined Kenyon as an associate on July 1, 1960, Mr. Mayer spent his entire career with the firm, advancing to partner in 1968 and becoming Of Counsel in 2005. Throughout his more than 50 years of practice, Mr. Mayer’s substantial contributions to the field of intellectual property law greatly contributed to Kenyon’s success. He represented and counseled clients in major patent litigations, in the procurement and licensing of extensive patent portfolios, and in the recognition of the intellectual property rights of competitors. Focused throughout his career on protecting the intellectual property interests of European companies in the United States, Mr. Mayer’s representation of numerous well-known German and other European corporations played an instrumental role in the development of Kenyon’s thriving German practice. He was not only a renowned attorney, but also an author and a highly sought after speaker on U.S. Patent Law.
We mourn the passing of a man whose distinguished career will be long remembered throughout the legal community.
